This European Standard defines the terms used in visual testing.

angle of vision
angle between the surface to be tested or viewed and the point of observation

lighting in addition to the naturall or principal lighting

borescope
endoscope to transmit images for visual testing

perception of the difference belween two or morewavelengths of light

colour temperature
ratingof a lightsource forcolourspectrumexpressed as an absolute temperature

colour vision
distinction oflight of different intensities andwavelengths

contrast ratio
relationshipbetween theperceivedlevelsofbrightness of different sections of an image

demonstration testpiece
testpiece with indications as close as possible tothose to be detecled on the component to be tesled

detection criteria
criteria which are used lo determine the form/stateand size of detail to be detected

digital image processing equipment
system for digital image measurement,adjustmentormanipulation(alteration) to performimageanalysis to assist wisual interpretation
